Today, Jannik Sinner will seek to defend his Wimbledon title from Alexander Zverev, the challenger.
On paper, it should be a simple victory for the world number one.
After all, not only have his performances improved with each new match at the All England Club, but he has also won his last nine meetings with the German.
And yet, despite all that is going against him, Caroline Wozniacki remains positive.
She has now explained why.
Caroline Wozniacki outlines her worry for Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final
Speaking live on ESPN, Wozniacki felt pretty confident about what today’s final holds in store.
And, whilst Alexander Zverev could be accused of being too predictable in the past, she also insisted that she is expecting a different, more positive outlook from him against Jannik Sinner.
Who will win the Wimbledon final? Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev
The top two seeds collide!
The pundit stated: “Absolutely. I mean, on one side, we’re having the best server of the tournament in Zverev, and he has been winning and being dominant on his serve throughout this tournament.
“He’s also been hitting a lot better through his forehand and I think that’s coming from having just won the French Open, coming in here, just kind of with that pressure off of his hope off of his shoulders.
“But then, he’s up against Sinner, who is currently the best returner in the game.
“And so, it’s serve versus return. It’s gonna be fun to see who breaks down first, but you can see it here: Sinner looks at that return, he’s able to hit aggressively from the beginning.”
Wozniacki does fear for Zverev, as she added: “The problem for Zverev, what it’s been in the last nine times, he’s playing someone who hasn’t been broken in the last 65 service games that he’s served. So not only is he a great returner, but if he’s not getting broken, that’s trouble for Zverev.
Who is now the best active ATP player without a Grand Slam title after Alexander Zverev’s French Open victory?
“I think we’re gonna go out tomorrow, and we’re going to see a Zverev who plays freely, hits bigger shots, and he’s gonna take some more chances on his own returns.”
Genie Bouchard has already predicted her winner of the men’s Wimbledon final, although Wozniacki was not so final with her analysis.
What is different from the last time Alexander Zverev played Jannik Sinner?
Whilst Zverev’s head-to-head record against Sinner looks bleak enough at first viewing, it only gets worse the deeper you look.
After all, not only has he not won in nine against the 24-year-old, but he has actually not won a set off him in their last six encounters.
Alexander Zverev’s last five matches vs Jannik Sinner
- 2026 Madrid Open final, Sinner won 6-1, 6-2
- 2026 Monte Carlo semi-final, Sinner won 6-1, 6-4
- 2026 Miami Open semi-final, Sinner won 6-3, 7-6
- 2026 Indian Wells semi-final, Sinner won 6-2, 6-4
- 2025 ATP Finals round robin, Sinner won 6-4, 6-3
And yet, Wozniacki made a case for him.
The main difference between now and their last match, which was in the Madrid Open final, is the fact that Zverev has actually won a Grand Slam.
Realistically, there will be no pressure on him to win today’s Wimbledon final, and that could make him dangerous if he swings with freedom and serves as well as we know he can.
