Alexander Zverev is the clear favourite to win the 2026 French Open.

The German is the highest-ranked player remaining in the competition and is one of the greatest clay-court players of his generation.

But Zverev still has two matches to win if he wants to lift the French Open trophy.

How many major titles will Alexander Zverev retire with if he wins the 2026 French Open?

He's the favourite to win in Paris…

During TNT Sports’ tournament coverage, former Grand Slam champion Caroline Wozniacki named the player most likely to stop Zverev from winning Roland Garros.

Caroline Wozniacki thinks Jakub Mensik is the player most likely to beat Alexander Zverev

“I think he’s the only one left in the draw who can really trouble [Alexander] Zverev, in my opinion,” said Wozniacki.

“Zverev has looked so good throughout this tournament; he’s not played a lot of sets, he hasn’t been out on court as long as all the others, he’s getting two days off, same as [Jakub] Mensik.

“But to me, Mensik is the one who has really looked steady, and his composure… he looks calm out there.

“It doesn’t look like this seems like a big moment for him; he doesn’t seem satisfied.”

Sam Querrey was keen to weigh in, making a big claim about who will win the French Open.

“Look, I think the winner of that match is going to win the tournament, right?” said Querrey.

“They both have two days off now… I kept thinking maybe Mensik would get a little tired; if it wasn’t in this match, the previous match, he’s proved me wrong, he’s proved everyone wrong, he was moving out there late in that third set.

“He gets 40 hours off now, I expect him to be basically feeling, not 100%, but close to 100% in two days.

“And yes, he has the first serve; he can almost match Zverev, first serve for first serve, and Mensik has the big baseline game; he’s going to be able to step in on some balls and push Zverev around a little bit.

“Having said that, I still think Zverev is quite a big favourite in that match.”

Legendary server John Isner also shared his thoughts.

“Zverev has been consistently serving, first serve percentage higher than 70%; today was 80%. If he serves anything close to 80%, I think it’s lights out for Mensik,” he said.

“Zverev, on the serve, it’s almost like an automatic hold, and then he backs it up with his all-court game that he’s playing right now, it’s so impressive.

“But I do agree with Caroline and Sam, that Mensik could be the one guy to do it.

“It’s a tall mountain to climb; that’s just how good Zverev is playing.”

John Isner gives Alexander Zverev a 65-70% chance of reaching the French Open final

They were then asked what % chance they give Zverev of beating Mensik in the semi-finals.

“I feel like 65% would probably skew it more to 70%, would be accurate,” said Isner.

“Probably a little more than a 2-1 favourite, for me.”

“I couldn’t agree more, 65, 70 whatever you want to say,” added Querrey.

Wozniacki disagreed with her American colleagues.

“I think 70 is a little steep; I would say 60-65, only because Zverev is the one with all the pressure; he’s had slow starts in the first set in the last two matches,” she said.

“I feel like if Mensik can get that first set, a lot of pressure starts coming on him.

“Zverev, not really been challenged here… you start thinking about it.”

Isner then highlighted what Zverev ‘can’t afford’ to do in his semi-final against Mensik.

“It’s a good point. Zverev can’t afford to get off to a slow start like that and lose his serve early to Mensik,” said Isner.

“He’s more of an automatic hold than [Jesper] De Jong and [Rafael] Jodar.

“So Zverev needs to be on top of his game and make sure he comes out fast and not go down an early break like he has in his last two matches.”

“And you wonder too, because Zverev has been cruising; let’s say Zverev goes down a set and a break, he hasn’t felt any bit of real pressure so far this tournament, that could be awkward if it starts in the semi-final,” said Querrey.

Zverev will play Mensik in the French Open semi-finals on Friday, June 5.
