Carlos Alcaraz shares what he worked on in practice straight after his Monte Carlo semi-final win

Carlos Alcaraz is into his second straight Monte Carlo final, having beaten Valentin Vacherot earlier today in straight sets.

It marked yet another impressive performance from the Spaniard, who has more than earned his spot in tomorrow’s showpiece final with his displays throughout the week.

However, he is still yet to face his sternest test, with Jannik Sinner finally set to await him.

Unsurprisingly, just a day after Alcaraz claimed his 300th career win after beating Alexander Bublik, the 22-year-old has now created more history by reaching yet another final.

What this young superstar continues to achieve beggars belief.

Carlos Alcaraz explains why he practiced after his Monte Carlo semifinal

His goal to achieve perfection was no greater exemplified than through his presence on the practice courts after his semi-final win.

Asked about that decision, Carlos Alcaraz claimed: “Well, to be honest, I just left the court and surprisingly I saw Samu over there and he told me, I reserved the court for 15–20 minutes to hit some balls, to be ready for tomorrow.

Who wins the Monte-Carlo Masters final?

“Yeah, I’ve been playing in a style that, for example today, I didn’t hit the ball as good as I wanted, to be honest. And a couple of serves as well. I finished the match not serving that well.

“It is the best thing that I could do, playing for 20 minutes to leave the court feeling great, feeling the ball great for tomorrow. So that’s why.”

Carlos Alcaraz’s historical performance at the Monte Carlo Masters

Carlos Alcaraz’s hit rate here in Monaco is truly exceptional, with this ongoing run only adding to his ever-growing legacy.

It’s no secret that he is a specialist on the clay, but the conditions at the Monte Carlo Masters are arguably perfect for his incredibly adaptable brand of tennis.

As such, in just the three times he has featured in this tournament, he has twice reached the final. If he wins tomorrow, he will have claimed two titles in just three appearances.

In 2023, Alcaraz missed Monte Carlo due to the risk of injury. In 2024, an arm injury also kept him out and forced him to withdraw from Barcelona soon after.

It’s been a pleasure to see him back competing again over the last two years in Monaco, and tomorrow promises to be a thriller no matter the opposition.
