Carlos Alcaraz is set to contest his first match at the Six Kings Slam on Thursday, when he takes on the winner of Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz.
Alcaraz will return to competitive play for the first time since winning the Japan Open on debut.
The Spaniard was set to play at the Shanghai Masters, but withdrew from the tournament due to ‘physical issues.’
On Wednesday, Alcaraz provided his fans with an update regarding the condition of his ankle, which he injured during his first-round match in Japan.

Carlos Alcaraz’s ankle injury update
Speaking to Spanish outlet MARCA, Alcaraz updated the public on the condition of his ankle.
“The ankle has been doing well, recovering well within reason,” Alcaraz said.
“It was a grade two sprain, and without much rest, it always takes a little longer to recover.
“I may still be playing, not with discomfort, but with a bit of doubt.
“Those doubts always take time to go away, but the truth is we’re doing a good job. My ankle is holding up.”

Alcaraz has received a bye through to the second round of the Six Kings Slam. If he defeats either Alexander Zverev or Taylor Fritz, he will face one of Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas or Novak Djokovic in the final.
Who won the Six Kings Slam in 2024?
Italian world number two Jannik Sinner won the first-ever edition of the Six Kings Slam in 2024, defeating Carlos Alcaraz 6-7, 6-3, 6-3.
Sinner has returned to the tournament this year. However, he has not received a bye, and will contest his first-round match against Stefanos Tsitsipas on Wednesday.
If Sinner defeats the Greek player, he will face Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, before a potential rematch against Alcaraz in the final.
Before Tsitsipas and Sinner play on Wednesday, Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev will contest the opening match of the tournament.
