Spain stunned the Czech Republic at the Davis Cup after Jaume Munar, Marcel Granollers, and Pedro Martínez produced a brilliant comeback.
Czech Republic, bolstered by rising stars Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik, entered the match as the seeds and would have fancied their chances against a Spain team missing Carlos Alcaraz.
Mensik defeated Pablo Carreño Busta in the opening game, but Munar kept Spain’s hopes alive by defeating Lehecka.
The victory was confirmed by Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers, who defeated Tomas Machac and Mensik in straight sets.

Carlos Alcaraz celebrates Spain’s Davis Cup success
Alcaraz was forced to miss the Davis Cup due to an injury he picked up against Jannik Sinner in the ATP Finals.
That didn’t stop Spain’s best player from watching the tie from afar and he celebrated his teammates’ success on social media.
Alcaraz wrote: “VAMOS!” on social media with a picture of Martinez and Granollers after they confirmed Spain’s place in the semi-finals.
Spain will play the winner of Argentina vs Germany in the final four of the tournament as they look to win their seventh Davis Cup trophy.
The nation has not won the tournament since 2019, when a team of Roberto Bautista Agut, Rafael Nadal, Marcel Granollers, and Feliciano López defeated Canada in the final.
The seeds continue to fall at the Davis Cup Finals
Italy, France, Germany, and Czech Republic entered the Davis Cup in Bologna as the four seeds, but only Italy have managed to win their opening round game thus far.
Germany will be looking to follow in the nation’s footsteps as they play Argentina in the final quarter-final of the tournament.
Alexander Zverev leads Germany at the Davis Cup Finals for his first-ever appearance at this stage of the tournament.
He, along with Jan-Lennard Struff, Yannick Hanfmann, Tim Putz, and Kevin Krawietz will meet an Argentina team featuring Francisco Cerundolo, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Francisco Comesaña, Horacio Zeballos, and Andrés Molteni.
Germany and Argentina will take each other on in the night match on November 20 from the SuperTennis Arena in Bologna, Italy.
