Carlos Alcaraz has become a tennis legend before the age of 23 after becoming the youngest man in tennis history to complete the Career Grand Slam in Men’s Singles events.
Alcaraz fell a set behind to the Serbian star but quickly restored order, eventually winning the contest 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.
By defeating Djokovic, Alcaraz has equalled a record held by Bjorn Borg while also joining Mats Wilander and John McEnroe on seven Grand Slam titles.

Following the contest, Alcaraz posted two messages on social media celebrating his success in Melbourne.
Carlos Alcaraz’s social media posts after winning the Australian Open
In his first message on X, Alcaraz posted an image of his younger self holding a racket and ball on a clay court.
Accompanied with the photo is a message that read: “Job completed.”
In a second post, Alcaraz published an image of himself kissing the Australian Open trophy with the caption, “AND WE DID IT.”

Alcaraz has now strengthened his grip on the world number one spot after gaining 1,600 points at the tournament.
Jannik Sinner – Alcaraz’s closest rival for the number one spot – has also lost 1,200 points following his exit at the semi-final stage.
When the rankings are adjusted on Monday, Alcaraz will be on 13,650 points, while Sinner will be on 10,300.
Novak Djokovic, who will rise to world number three, will be on 5,280 points.
Carlos Alcaraz could make more history at the 2027 Australian Open
Only a few players have achieved the double Career Grand Slam in tennis history.
Two of those players are Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, who have won 46 Grand Slams combined.
Djokovic won the double Career Grand Slam at the age of 34 after winning the 2021 French Open title. Nadal achieved the feat while aged 35 after winning the 2022 Australian Open.
If Alcaraz were to win the 2027 Australian Open, he would complete the double Career Grand Slam at the age of 23.
