Carlos Alcaraz has not been able to halt Jannik Sinner’s dominance.
The Spaniard was looking to win a second consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title on Sunday, but was unable to do so against his Italian rival.
Sinner proved too strong for the Spaniard, winning the contest 7-6, 6-3.

Sinner has now won four consecutive Masters 1000 titles – the third man to do so in tennis history after Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Following the high-stakes contest, Alcaraz paid tribute to his opponent’s achievement.
Carlos Alcaraz lauds ‘incredible’ Jannik Sinner after his Monte Carlo triumph
“I need to start with Jannik,” Alcaraz said in his post-match speech. “It’s impressive what you are achieving right now.
“As far as I am concerned, the Sunshine double and then Monte Carlo. You are the second one to achieve it and it is something incredible. I just explained how difficult it is to make that happen, so congratulations for everything. For the work you are doing with your team.”

As Alcaraz notes, Sinner is now only the second man in tennis history to win Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo in the same calendar year.
Novak Djokovic is the only other player to do so, having accomplished the feat in 2015.
Alcaraz, who has fallen to the world number two spot following the loss, went on to express why he felt happiness seeing Sinner win the contest.
