Carlos Alcaraz began his ATP Finals campaign with a win as he swept aside Alex de Minaur in straight sets.
Alcaraz is one of the favourites for the ATP Finals as the Spaniard looks to bounce back from his disappointing Paris Masters exit at the hands of Cameron Norrie.
The Spaniard looked impressive in Turin against de Minaur, who made him work especially hard for the first set in particular.
The world number two’s victory has helped him equal Jannik Sinner‘s season record, although it could continue to change several times over the course of the tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz hits another top 10 win against Alex de Minaur
The Spaniard’s win over de Minaur is his fourteenth top 10 win in 2025, which is now equal with his rival Sinner.
This statistic could change between the two players over the tournament, of course, as both men will be playing the rest of the top eight.
Nevertheless, Alcaraz can enjoy the fact he has levelled another record of Sinner’s before he plays Felix Auger-Aliassime on November 10.
Alcaraz has two more guaranteed matches at the ATP Finals, against Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti, but he has put himself in a very good position to qualify for the semi-finals.
The star will likely need one more win to guarantee his place in the knockouts, but there is plenty more to play for in the group stage.
Alcaraz will want to finish top of his group because that would give him the best chance of missing out on playing Sinner in the semi-final.
Every top 10 win Carlos Alcaraz has managed in 2025
Alcaraz has defeated seven different top 10 players to earn his 14 top 10 wins in 2025, with de Minaur on the receiving end of the Spaniard’s greatness.
The world number two has beaten de Minaur three times across the season after his win at the ATP Finals, with the other two coming at the Rotterdam Open and the Barcelona Open.
Sinner has also faced defeat to Alcaraz three times, with each loss coming in a final at the Italian Open, the Cincinnati Open, and the US Open.
Alcaraz has picked up multiple wins over Musetti and Fritz, too, as well as a sole victory over Jack Draper at the Italian Open.
The Spaniard has already beaten his best-ever record for wins over top 10 players in a single season, which was previously 12 from 2024.
