Carlos Alcaraz’s Miami Open dreams were left in tatters on Sunday evening.
The world number one was looking to win his first Miami Open title since 2022; and after defeating Joao Fonseca, many expected Alcaraz to quickly move through the draw.
However, it was not to be, as Alcaraz was stunned by Sebastian Korda in the fourth round, losing the match 3-6, 7-5, 4-6.

After starting the season on a 16-match winning streak, the Spaniard has now lost two of his last three matches.
Patrick Mouratoglou, the former coach of Serena Williams, has suggested why this may be.
Patrick Mouratoglou claims Carlos Alcaraz is ‘bored’
Mouratoglou, who has also worked with Simona Halep, Holger Rune and Naomi Osaka, believes Carlos Alcaraz is no longer interested in playing Masters 1000 events.
The Frenchman, 55, has claimed that this apparent boredom represents a ‘danger’ for Alcaraz’s career moving forward.
“My feeling is that Alcaraz is bored [laughing],” Mouratoglou [pictured below] admitted on Instagram.

“The guy already has seven Grand Slams and I feel like playing Masters 1000s. He’s won so many already, he’s not that interested. That’s really a feeling that I have.
“I also feel that will be the danger for him in the next years and you know, a lot of people say that ‘oh, this year in Roland Garros or in Wimbledon or US Open, he doesn’t play well in the first rounds.
“Yeah, he doesn’t play well because he’s bored! He has so much margin.
“When the match is too easy, he’s losing his focus because deep inside he knows he can break back any time.

“So maybe it’s not conscious, he doesn’t think ‘oh, I don’t care. But he’s accepting to be broken, accepting to lose his focus.
“So that’s a danger for him.”
After losing to Korda, Alcaraz told reporters that he will return home to Spain in order to rest and recuperate ahead of the clay-court swing.
The clay-court swing represents a crucial period of the tennis calendar for Alcaraz, as he has 3,500 ATP ranking points to defend between April and June.
The Spaniard could make his return to competitive play at the Monte-Carlo Masters, which is due to begin on April 5.
Do you believe Carlos Alcaraz is already the greatest tennis player of all time?
