Serena Williams is rumoured to be planning a comeback for the 2026 grass-court season.
Earlier this week, Jon Wertheim claimed Williams had requested wild cards for grass-court tournaments this summer.
She is rumoured to be playing doubles with Canada’s Victoria Mboko at the Queen’s Club Championships.
Who would you like to see Serena Williams play doubles with if she returns?
But another WTA star has now thrown her hat in the ring, offering to play doubles with the 23-time Grand Slam champion.
Katie Boulter wants to play doubles with Serena Williams if she comes out of retirement
During her latest post-match press conference, British star Katie Boulter was asked about Williams’ potential return.
“I mean, I would look forward to that!” she said.
“Personally myself, she has been a leader in our sport for a very long time.
“She has obviously had a kid, and to see Mums come back, she is inspirational.
“They do not get enough credit for what they do.

“Of course, I would love to play doubles with her if I had the opportunity.
“I actually don’t know [if she is coming back], but it would be fantastic.
“It would be so fun to watch.
“Great!
“It really helps our sport.”
Boulter, like many others, would welcome Williams back to tennis with open arms.
She will, however, be well aware that there is a long queue of players looking to play doubles with the American.
Boulter might consider asking Serena’s sister, Venus Williams, to put in a good word for her, after the pair played doubles together at the Madrid Open last month…
Katie Boulter reacts after ending British hopes at the French Open
Boulter lost to Anastasia Potapova in the second round of the French Open.
In doing so, she ended British hopes of winning either singles tournament this year.
How British players have performed at Roland Garros
| Player | Round lost in | Opponent | Score |
| Emma Raducanu | First round | Solana Sierra | 0-6, 6-7 |
| Toby Samuel | First round | Alex de Minaur | 4-6, 4-6, 2-6 |
| Cameron Norrie | First round | Adolfo Daniel Vallejo | 6-7, 0-2 (RET) |
| Francesca Jones | Second round | Marie Bouzkova | 0-6, 6-7 |
| Katie Boulter | Second round | Anastasia Potapova | 7-5, 4-6, 2-6 |
During her post-match press conference, Boulter commented on the state of British tennis.
“As I have always said, I am probably going to stay focused and stay in my own lane,” said Boulter.
“I wish every Brit the best opportunity that they can get.
“I know everyone gets inspired over the grass, and I do really hope that they can continue that momentum on the grass and through the year as well.
“I do think it’s important that there is a lot of British players doing great; I am sure of it on the grass courts, but I really hope they continue that and play a full schedule and really get their rankings up.
“I think everyone has such great opportunities to do so.
“The grass court season is very small; it’s only a few weeks. I wish it was longer, but unfortunately it’s not.”

Boulter continued, sharing her plans for the rest of the season.
“I am going on to the grass knowing that I have four weeks to give myself everything that I can and do the best I can, but I am also going to keep physically working and get myself back and keep myself in a place that longevity is important too,” she said.
“It’s a long season; there are about 10 weeks in Asia, another five or six in the US.
“So, for me, number one is getting my health back. I am excited to see how all the Brits do.
“I am excited for some of my friends to be back.
“Even talking to Jodie [Burrage], she is going to be back in a couple of days, and she is very eager.
“I can’t wait to support those girls, but I need to stay in my lane and keep my head down.”
Boulter is scheduled to play Queen’s before Wimbledon in 2026.
The 2026 Queen’s Club Championships begin on Monday, June 8.
Wimbledon starts on Monday, June 29.
