Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz to win the Monte-Carlo Masters and become the world number one.
The Monte-Carlo Masters final was not to the usual high standard of Alcaraz and Sinner’s previous matches, as they struggled in windy conditions at the clay court event.
Sinner defeated Alcaraz in straight sets to continue his remarkable run at Masters events so far this season.
Following their first match of the year, Boris Becker sent both men individual messages after the Monte-Carlo final.

Boris Becker’s messages to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
Becker was in attendance for the semi-finals and finals at Monte-Carlo and saw up close and personal what the two men achieved at the tournament.
After the match, Becker sent words of encouragement to Alcaraz after he had lost his world number one status.
Should Carlos Alcaraz hire another coach after his recent results?
If so, who should he hire? 🤔
On social media, Becker wrote: “You’re always a class act whether you’re winning or losing! The world of tennis is lucky to have you playing the game, the next win will come! Upwards & onwards Carlito!”
The former Wimbledon champion also took the time to celebrate Sinner’s latest achievement as his remarkable run of form continues.
Responding to Sinner’s claim it was a ‘dream’ to win the tournament, Becker wrote: “But you make it a reality Jannik! Congratulations on winning the Monte-Carlo Masters.”
Sinner has now won three tournaments in 2026, while Alcaraz has two trophies to his name, including the 2026 Australian Open.
Where will Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner play next?
Alcaraz will be straight back in action as he looks to bounce back from his third defeat of the 2026 season.
The star is set to play his home tournament at the Barcelona Open next, which begins just a day after the Monte-Carlo Masters final.
Who will win the Barcelona Open? 🤔
Sinner’s schedule, meanwhile, is slightly more up in the air than his Spanish rival’s at present.
The Italian is currently scheduled to play the Madrid Open, although there is speculation about whether he will withdraw.
Sinner has now played three Masters tournaments back-to-back, so it would be unsurprising if he opts out of the Spanish event.
