Serena Williams is not the greatest tennis player of all time according to Boris Becker.

Williams recently made a comeback to tennis, having not played a match since the 2022 US Open.

The American is considered by many as the greatest WTA player of all time, with Williams winning more major singles titles than any other woman has in the Open Era.

Despite this, Becker has actually named a different woman when asked to name his WTA G.O.A.T.

Boris Becker names Steffi Graf as the greatest women’s tennis player of all time

Becker spoke to Eurosport Germany in a round of quickfire questions, where he named John McEnroe as his best ever doubles partner.

The six-time major winner also named Wimbledon as his best ever title, before Becker was asked to name his greatest tennis player of all time.

If Serena Williams isn’t the greatest tennis player of all time, then who is and why?

Becker named Novak Djokovic as his greatest ever male player, having coached the 24-time Grand Slam champion for three years, before picking his compatriot Steffi Graf as the greatest ever women’s player.

Graf won 22 Grand Slam titles in her career, one fewer than Williams, but spent more weeks as world number one and won more titles overall.

Williams also played Graf twice, with the two tennis legends splitting their two meetings one apiece.

Boris Becker picks himself as the player with the best mentality ever

In a separate video for Eurosport Germany, Becker was also asked to build his ultimate ATP player.

Becker picked Rafael Nadal for the player with the best forehand, before naming Roger Federer as the player with the best one-handed backhand, while choosing Djokovic for the best two-handed backhand.

He could not decide between the two serving giants of Iva Karlovic and John Isner as the player with the best serve, but Becker once again named Federer for the best serve and volleyer.

Becker then selected Andre Agassi for the player with the best return, before being asked to name the player with the best mentality.

This is where Becker chose himself, concluding his lineup for his ultimate ATP player.
