Carlos Alcaraz is looking to respond to a minor blip by defending his title at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

The world number one has not won a tournament since February’s Qatar Open after suffering Sunshine Double defeats to Daniil Medvedev and Sebastian Korda.

Alcaraz began his Monte-Carlo campaign with a win against Sebastian Baez and he will next play Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Ahead of his next match at the Monte-Carlo Masters, Boris Becker has revealed what he really thinks of the Spaniard.

Boris Becker explains what Carlos Alcaraz has brought to tennis

Speaking to the media surrounding the Monte-Carlo Masters, Becker was full of praise for the current world number one.

Alcaraz is a fascinating player. He is exactly what the world of tennis needed. He is very charismatic. It’s a joy to watch him.

Is Joao Fonseca the greatest threat to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in Monte Carlo?

He's qualified for his first career Masters 1000 QF!

“A true artist on the court. All artists have to be inspired by something or someone. He is inspired by Sinner and by some challenges.”

However, Becker believes Alcaraz has one issue on the court that could derail his ambitions to dominate the sport.

The German icon explained: “But if the matches go too easily for him, he will probably feel a bit bored.”

Alcaraz has often suffered early exits at big tournaments to lower-ranked players, including David Goffin and Korda in Miami and Cameron Norrie at the Paris Masters.

Carlos Alcaraz being ‘bored’ has caused a mass debate

Becker is not the first pundit to say Alcaraz looks ‘bored’ on the court, as Patrick Mouratoglou caused a huge debate by saying similar.

Carlos Alcaraz concedes Jannik Sinner will become world number one!

Will it happen this week in Monte Carlo?

“My feeling is that [Carlos] Alcaraz is bored. The guy already has seven Grand Slams, and I feel like playing Masters 1000s; he’s won so many already, he’s not that interested. That’s really a feeling that I have,” said Mouratoglou on Instagram.

Andy Roddick, in particular, took offence to Mouratoglou’s comments about Alcaraz.

“I’d say that’s a really hard opinion to commit to unless you actually know something,” said the American on Served.

“I think it’s borderline disrespectful to tennis earth, and players, and someone who is nine in the world and beats Alcaraz. If I’m [Daniil] Medvedev and I see that, I might get CTE from my eyeroll!

“To me, that’s ridiculous,” Roddick continued. “Without knowing, that feels thirsty for clicks.”

Becker is the latest in a long line to accuse Alcaraz of being ‘bored’ and the jury is out whether he receives any kind of backlash.
