Bogdanovic lost a disappointing first set 6-2 but hit back with an early break at the start of the second to open up a 3-1 lead. He was pegged back to 3-3 by his Indian opponent but the rest of the set went with serve, and the British number three came through the tie-break to take the match to a decider.

Bogdanovic then broke Devvarman in the first game of the third and looked destined for victory having made it to 3-1 once again. But as before, the left-hander was unable to finish what he had begun as his opponent fought back to secure a 6-2 6-7 (7/3) 6-4 triumph.
