The Cypriot world number 42 was on his game early, breaking his French opponent in the opening game and maintaining his advantage to take the first set in 45 minutes.

Gasquet raced into a 4-1 lead in the second and even served for the set at 5-3. However, Baghdatis fought back to force a tie-breaker and then reeled off seven straight points after dropping the first two to clinch the title.
