The Belarussian, who is seeded fourth in Germany, beat Spain’s Navarro – currently ranked 24th in the world – 6-1 6-4.

The 19-year-old, who has already won tournaments in Brisbane, Memphis and Miami this year, will now meet the winner of the tie between Slovakia’s Magdalena and Gisela Dulko of Argentina.

World number one Dinara Safina is the top seed for the tournament ahead of Russian compatriot Elena Dementieva and Jelena Jankovic of Serbia.
