Aryna Sabalenka has been the most consistently excellent player on the WTA Tour in 2025.

The Belarusian, who secured the year-end world number one spot for a second consecutive year, reached three Grand Slam finals during the 2025 campaign.

Sabalenka cemented her status as the best player in women’s tennis when she won the US Open in September, defeating Amanda Anisimova in the final.

The 27-year-old has been rewarded for her stellar efforts on the Tour this week after winning one of the WTA’s most prestigious awards on Monday.

Aryna Sabalenka is named the WTA Player of the Year

Sabalenka, who has won four WTA Tour titles in 2025, has been named the WTA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Sabalenka beat Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Madison Keys, all of whom have won Grand Slam titles this year.

What are your thoughts on Aryna Sabalenka being named WTA Player of the Year?

The Belarusian also won the award ahead of Amanda Anisimova and Elena Rybakina. Anisimova reached two Grand Slam finals and Rybakina won the WTA Finals, joining a conversation with Serena Williams and Steffi Graf.

Along with her US Open title, Sabalenka also won tournaments in Brisbane, Miami and Madrid.

Sabalenka is currently the dominant force in women’s tennis, and few would bet against her adding to her Grand Slam total in 2026.

Angelique Kerber says Aryna Sabalenka possesses a ‘tough combination to beat’

In an interview with the WTA, Jason Stacy – Sabalenka’s fitness coach – reflected on Sabalenka’s greatness during the WTA Finals

The fitness coach said her work ethic is ‘insatiable,’ adding: “She’s like, `No, no, I’m doing the workout,’

“She might complain about it, might not really want to do it sometimes, but she’ll always still do it.

“She has that drive in her, so we actually have to come in and manage it a little bit.”

What does Aryna Sabalenka need to change in 2026 to win multiple Grand Slam titles?

Aryna Sabalenka only won one Grand Slam this season, at the 2025 US Open. The star last won multiple Grand Slams in 2024, when she lifted the Australian Open and the US Open.

Angelique Kerber, a two-time Wimbledon champion, also said: “The routine is definitely working. She’s so strong physically. And that strength gives her confidence. And confidence is mental strength.

“It’s a tough combination to beat.”
