Arthur Fils continues to have injury setbacks after making his comeback earlier this year.

Fils was out of action for over six months until February after suffering a back injury at Roland Garros last year.

After making his comeback, Fils won the Barcelona Open, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Madrid Open and the Miami Open, and was seen as a dark horse for Roland Garros this year.

However, he was unable to even take to the court in Paris, with Fils withdrawing from Roland Garros due to a hip injury he suffered in Rome, and he has now suffered another setback.

Arthur Fils withdraws from his first grass court tournament

After withdrawing from Roland Garros, Fils was scheduled to begin his grass court season at the Libema Open at the ATP 250 tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

However, that will no longer be happening, as Fils has now withdrawn from the tournament due to his ongoing injury struggles.

Fils will be replaced by Marton Fucsovics in the main draw, but he is not the only player to have withdrawn from the event due to injury.

Cameron Norrie retired for the first time on the main tour at Roland Garros this year due to a rib injury, and this issue appears to have continued for the Briton who will also miss the Libema Open this year.

Alexander Blockx was another player to suffer an injury at Roland Garros this year, and he has also pulled out of the grass court tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

What is next for Arthur Fils?

It is unclear as to what the severity of Fils’ injury is this year, but he is scheduled to play other grass court tournaments in the coming weeks.

Fils is also scheduled to play at the Halle Open ahead of Wimbledon this year, with the ATP 500 tournament beginning on Monday, June 15.

Although Fils appears to be in a race against time to be fit for Wimbledon, the 21-year-old does not have the pressure of coming back to defend ranking points.

After missing most of the second half of the 2025 season, Fils only has 50 more points to defend this year following Roland Garros.

Fils is currently 21st in the live ATP rankings, and he is even higher in the race to the ATP Finals, where he is sixth.
