Arthur Fery has achieved the unthinkable.
The Briton, ranked 114th on the ATP Tour, has become only the fifth British man in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals.
The 23-year-old produced an extraordinary level of tennis on Wednesday afternoon en route to defeating Roland Garros finalist Flavio Cobolli.
Do you believe Arthur Fery can win Wimbledon?
Fery, who will play Alexander Zverev in the last four, collapsed onto the grass after beating Cobolli, 6-4, 7-6, 6-0 on Wimbledon Centre Court.
An almost speechless Fery offered his thoughts on the contest in the immediate aftermath.

“Just seems to get better and better every match,” Fery said during his post-match interview. “I just can’t believe it.
“It’s incredible playing on Centre Court for a second time, second win. I just can’t believe it,” he reiterated.

Fery also defeated an illness-affected Flavio Cobolli in the first round of the 2026 Australian Open.
The young British star triumphed 7-6, 6-4, 6-1 inside the Melbourne Arena.
“I played Flavio earlier this year and I beat him in Australia and knew I could do it, it was a boost of confidence, even though it was my first time in a quarter-final and he’s done it before in a Grand Slam,” Fery continued.
“That gave me a boost of confidence and just kept going. I was very nervous beforehand but just kept going until the finish line.

“That last game I felt emotions that I had not experienced before in my life and I think it’s the same up there [with family and team].
“It’s unbelievable to share it with those guys, it’s a great bunch of guys. I’m so happy.”
Fery was then asked if he would be able to ‘block out the noise,’ and to detail his plans for the next few days.

Zverev, the second seed, will also be making his debut in the Wimbledon semi-finals after defeating Taylor Fritz in straight sets.
Zverev and Fery have never played each other on the ATP Tour.
The winner of that match will play either Novak Djokovic or Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon final.
Arthur Fery is the new British number one
After defeating Cobolli in such a comprehensive manner, Arthur Fery will overtake Cameron Norrie in the ATP ranking and become the new British number one.
Norrie, a former semi-finalist at the All England Club, is set to lose 390 points following his defeat in the first round of this year’s event.

This result will see him drop nine places in the rankings to world number 38.
Meanwhile, Fery is set to rise 78 places in the rankings to world number 36. The Briton has gained 750 ranking points at the major event; and he could go on to increase his total later this week.
