Jack Draper is back from injury and ready to compete at the US Open.

The British number one has not played a singles match since his second-round defeat to Marin Cilic at the Wimbledon Championships.

But the 23-year-old returned to action at Flushing Meadows by competing in the mixed doubles tournament alongside Jessica Pegula.

They reached the semi-finals and contesting these matches will certainly boost Draper’s match sharpness ahead of the US Open singles.

Annabel Croft thinks Jack Draper’s US Open success could depend on how he feels physically

Jack Draper has had a history of injury issues earlier in his career. But in 2024 and the first half of 2025, the world number five was able to stay fit and as a result, he has enjoyed the best results of his career so far.

But Draper’s summer of tennis was disrupted after injury prevented him from competing at the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open.

As he prepares to try and win his first Grand Slam title, Annabel Croft told Sky Sports that Draper’s success will depend on his fitness.

“It’s going to be tough for Draper coming back from injury again. It all depends where his body is at with this latest injury setback,” she said.

“It’s such a shame that he worked so hard to be as fit as he is and to have that momentum and so hard when you’re coming back to a place and defending all those points.”

Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli expressed her concern for Draper ahead of the US Open: “I am a bit worried for Jack,” she said. “But I think he can bounce back at the Open.”

Jack Draper loved playing mixed doubles with Jessica Pegula at the US Open

Draper began his time in New York by playing mixed doubles alongside Pegula.

They were the top-seeded team and they went on to reach the semi-finals, where they took on Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud.

Draper and Pegula claimed the first set before Swiatek and Ruud came back to win two epic tiebreaks to clinch the match and reach the final.

Post-match, Draper offered his assessment of the revamped tournament playing alongside Pegula, who reached the US Open women’s singles final in 2024.

“I enjoyed the competition. I loved it, playing alongside Jessica. I wasn’t expecting probably to have as good of a time as I did,” Draper said.

“Honestly, I thought we played great. Tonight was a tough match. They were in good form. But just overall a really positive experience. I loved playing with you. Hope to do it again.”
