Carlos Alcaraz furthered his Grand Slam lead over Jannik Sinner by winning the Australian Open.

The Spaniard now towers above his rival for Grand Slam wins with seven, while Sinner is lagging behind with four major victories.

Alcaraz was incredibly impressive at the Australian Open as Sinner crashed out at the semi-final stage to Novak Djokovic.

Despite Alcaraz starting the season strongly, Andy Roddick believes more respect should be shown to Sinner.

Speaking on Served, Andy Roddick warned fans not to forget about Sinner following Alcaraz’s Australian Open victory.

“Sinner is in this conversation. Let’s not be victims of the movement. They are going to have this thing forever. If someone wins 15 and someone wins eight, don’t disassociate the two of them,” he said.

Do you believe Carlos Alcaraz is already the greatest tennis player of all time?

“Carlos is phenomenal. He is leading. If he wins 15, which is bananas to even say, and Sinner wins eight – we are going to pay our respects. This is not one vs the other, this is one with the other.”

Roddick believes Sinner and Alcaraz will continue to push each other, and there will be times when each of them goes through highs and lows.

“They are leading this generation of tennis on the men’s side. There are going to be ebbs and flows to this thing.

“Sinner is not done winning Slams, Carlos is far from done winning Slams. It’s just fun to watch progress in real time.”

Alcaraz and Sinner have now won the last nine Grand Slams dating back to the Australian Open in 2024. The last star not named Alcaraz and Sinner to win a major was Djokovic, who lifted the US Open in 2023.

How Carlos Alcaraz plans to commemorate his Australian Open win

Alcaraz’s victory at the Australian Open saw him become the youngest male player to achieve the Career Grand Slam.

The 22-year-old was desperate to win the Melbourne event to complete the achievement in his fifth appearance at the Australian Open.

The star plans to commemorate his triumph with yet another tattoo, and he already knows what it’s going to be.

“It’s going to be a kangaroo. I just don’t know the place. I’m just thinking about the leg but I don’t know which calf, whether it will be the right or left one.”

Alcaraz added a strawberry tattoo when he won Wimbledon, as well as an Eiffel Tower for Roland Garros, and the Statue of Liberty for the US Open.
