Coco Gauff produced another battling performance to win her latest match at Wimbledon.

Gauff beat qualifier Claire Liu 6-3, 6(5)-7, 6-2 to reach the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships, which matches her best result at the tournament.

Grass continues to be more of a struggle for Gauff, whose serve is often the focus of her matches on this surface.

However, former world number one Andy Roddick wanted to highlight another area of Gauff’s game, which he spoke to her about after winning her latest match at SW19.

What Coco Gauff said to Andy Roddick that made him laugh

Gauff is widely regarded as one of the most athletic players and best movers on the WTA Tour, and is regularly involved in tightly-fought three set matches.

This has been the case for two of her three matches at Wimbledon so far this year, and Roddick praised Gauff for her ability to constantly come through those longer matches on his ‘Served with Andy Roddick‘ podcast.

Roddick then revealed that Gauff told him while broadcasting at Wimbledon this year that she never gets tired, which caused him to laugh out of disbelief.

Give us your one crazy prediction for the second week of Wimbledon!

“You know what I thought today, I was watching and I actually was thinking it and I asked her about it on the desk and her response I actually started laughing very hard on the desk, because she said it so nonchalantly and it was insane to me, but also very real for me,” began Roddick.

“I said, the common narrative is that she’s a competitor, she figures it out, when you don’t have your best stuff you still find your way to get through, which by the way is a skill, people use it as a criticism but it is a skill. I go, But the part that doesn’t get talked about enough is in order to do that you have to have full trust in your legs.

“Like you have to have two and a half hours all the time, I had the researchers on ESPN and I will use this on air at some point, I had them run a how much does Coco Gauff run on a miles per match basis more than Aryna Sabalenka? Per match, it is almost 30% more every match.

“…[In the post-match interview] So they basically said, how do you recover after those long matches and Coco almost looked confused by the question, she was like ‘I don’t know, I guess I do an ice bath’. So I asked her on the desk and was like ‘You almost laughed’ and she was like ‘Oh no, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten tired on court’, said those words…She said ‘One time when I was 14 years old I remember being tired’…I literally started laughing…She was so confused by the suggestion that recovery was needed.”

This will be an eighth meeting between the two players, with Gauff leading their head-to-head 5-2, which includes beating Bencic at the Miami Open earlier this year.
