The number of American women competing at the highest level on the WTA Tour is frankly staggering.
There are four American women in the WTA top 10, nine in the top 50, and 15 in the top 100.
The United States is dominating women’s tennis at this current moment, as demonstrated by the fact that at least one American woman has reached the final of every Grand Slam singles final this year.
Of those four finals, American women have been triumphant in two of them. Madison Keys won the Australian Open and Coco Gauff clinched her second Grand Slam title at the French Open.

With Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova currently leading the way, the dominance of America’s players looks set to continue.
The American contingent has been strengthened further, following the rise of a previously unheralded player.
Andy Roddick praises American star Ann Li

Andy Roddick is one of the premier voices in tennis, regularly offering his opinions on the sport’s current affairs on his podcast.
The former world number one, who remains the last American man to win a Grand Slam singles title, has reflected on Ann Li’s recent triumph at the Guangzhou Open.
Li, the second seed at the tournament, defeated former Wimbledon quarter-finalist Lulu Sun to win the title on Saturday.
| Round | Opponent | Score |
| Round of 32 | Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva | 6-4, 7-6 |
| Round of 16 | Camila Osorio | 7-5, 6-2 |
| Quarter-final | Elisabetta Cocciaretto | 6-3, 6-4 |
| Semi-final | Zhang Shuai | 5-2 [RETIRED] |
| Final | Lulu Sun | 7-6, 6-2 |
Speaking on his podcast, ‘Served with Andy Roddick,’ praised Li for her impressive run in Guangzhou, while noting her strong record on the WTA Tour this year.
“Congratulations to Ann Li, another story we haven’t talked about enough,” Roddick said.
“Winning last week in Guangzhou, 33-24 for the year, there are really good players who have been top 30, 40 for a long time that don’t have a winning record on tour.
“That doesn’t count Challengers, tour record. 33-24, career high ranking now, 25 years old. Just a great year, not one that we’ve talked about a ton, still doing work at the end of the year.”
Ann Li posts Instagram message after Guangzhou triumph
Following her success in Guangzhou, Ann Li thanked her team and her supporters in China.
On Instagram, Li said: “A second WTA title in the books. Third time’s a charm this year, I guess. Thank you to the team, Carlos Boluda, Silvana Ramos and Jose Luis Hernandez Davo – grateful to have you guys by my side.
“Thank you for the support here in China, one more to go.”
Li’s first Tour title came four years ago at the Tenerife Ladies Open. Li, who defeated Camila Osorio in the final, was later nominated for 2021 WTA Newcomer of the Year.
Following her second WTA Tour triumph in Guangzhou, Li has risen to a career-high ranking of world number 33.
