Novak Djokovic has achieved so much throughout his truly startling career that nothing ever seems surprising anymore.

Just to be active around the apex of the ATP Tour at his age is worthy enough for great celebration, let alone to still be as successful as he is as well.

However, it is clear why he remains present and persistent in his pursuit of glory, with that 25th Grand Slam title still eluding him.

For many, Wimbledon represents Novak Djokovic’s best chance of accomplishing this incredible and impossible feat.

Andy Roddick has now shared whether he truly believes the 39-year-old is capable after watching him beat Stefanos Tsitsipas last night.

Andy Roddick thinks Novak Djokovic can win Wimbledon this year

Speaking on his Served with Andy Roddick podcast, the American was running out of superlatives to describe what was a clinical and comprehensive performance from Djokovic.

He began with a bold claim: “Seeing him up close. I think his serve is unbelievable, the ball striking is unbelievable. He is in this thing with a very real chance.”

How far does Novak Djokovic make it at Wimbledon this year?

He's safely through to the third round!

Roddick then explained why: “Today was important on a number of levels. One is that you win and the drive for 25 is still alive. Time on court? One and a half hours, maybe a little bit more.

“There was no part of his game which did not look locked in today. I know it’s a good matchup and there’s not much Tsitsipas can do, as he likes to have more time and create more height, all of these things grass does not lend itself to.

“But it was just vintage. He was cooking second serve returns, moving the ball around; he got into those rallies where it was backhand to backhand and just started unloading into that corner with as much pace as I have seen him injecting into the ball in a while. I was blown away by the quality with which he was striking the ball today.”

How close has Novak Djokovic come to winning a 25th Grand Slam title?

When Djokovic won his 24th Grand Slam title, it marked the conclusion of a stunning year, in which he claimed three of the four majors on offer and only lost in the final of the other one.

It seemed almost guaranteed that he would win number 25 in due time, but few could possibly account for the swift arrival of Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Having been beaten in that 2023 Wimbledon final by the Spaniard, everybody knew he was going to be a problem.

But the way in which he was wiped off the court by Sinner in the 2024 Australian Open final sent shockwaves throughout the tennis world. The New Two had arrived.

Djokovic would go on to reach another Wimbledon final later that year, but was again thwarted by his old foe Alcaraz.

He would lose to one of the world’s current top-two players in three of the four Grand Slam semi-finals he then reached in 2025.

Having finally managed to beat one of them in Melbourne earlier this year, it proved impossible to actually do the unthinkable and get past them both in the same event, and he lost in the final despite taking the opening set.

Now, with Alcaraz ruled out of Wimbledon, it really feels like this is one of the few golden chances Djokovic will get before time truly runs out.
