Jack Draper’s 2025 season was put on hold earlier than he would have hoped.
The Brit enjoyed an excellent start to the year, winning his first Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells and reaching the Madrid Open final.
Draper’s efforts saw him climb to world number four – his highest ever ranking on the ATP Tour.

Draper’s season was brought to a swift halt in June. After exiting Wimbledon in the second round, the 23-year-old revealed he had suffered a left arm injury, which has resulted in his absence for much of the latter half of the season.
What started as a promising year for the Brit has ended in disappointment, and he will hope to bounce back in 2026.
Andy Roddick, the 2003 US Open champion, has assessed Draper’s season.
Andy Roddick says Jack Draper’s injury issues have ‘disappointed’ him
Speaking on Roddick’s ‘Served‘ podcast, the American former world number one expressed his dismay regarding Draper’s stop-start campaign.
Roddick said: “It’s just health. This one disappointed me because he felt like a guy who through the first four months with what he did to Carlos at Indian Wells and then playing Madrid on clay and making a final there, you felt like Ruud stuck around until he was able to edge him out in that final.

“But you were looking at this guy, who made a US Open semi the year before, thinking is this one of the guys who can actually interrupt the stranglehold? He felt like that guy for the first four or five months of the year.
“When he is in full flight he looks the part of someone who is a top three or four player. How does that translate over time? Can he get his body healthy? We thought he was going to come back for the US Open, but his shoulder was not quite there.
“I hope he stays healthy because what he showed for that pocket of late August through to May, 2024 going into 2025, was very exciting for the sport of tennis.”
Draper last played a competitive match at the US Open – a first round win against Federico Gomez.
Jack Draper is the ATP’s best bet at unsettling Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance – prove us wrong…
The Brit recently pulled out of the UTS Grand Final and the Macau Tennis Masters – two exhibition events.
Will Jack Draper play at the 2026 Australian Open?
One can only hope that Draper is fit enough to compete in Melbourne.
Were he to compete, the former US Open semi-finalist would be a major threat to Jannik Sinner’s Australian Open crown.
Draper’s game is suited to the hard courts in Australia, and he will be motivated to improve upon his fourth round performance at the 2025 tournament.

If Draper decides to skip the Australian Open, he will lose 200 ATP points and risk falling out of the ATP top 10.
The Brit’s health remains a massive question mark moving forward. However, if Draper can stay injury-free in 2026, he could be the main challenger to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance.
