Andy Murray offers his take on Andy Roddick’s punditry as he joins ESPN

Andy Roddick is set to join ESPN’s team of analysts after agreeing to a multi-year deal with the American broadcaster.

On Monday, the American network released a statement on X, saying: “ESPN has reached a multi-year deal with 2003 US Open champion and former World No. 1 Andy Roddick.

“Roddick will serve as an analyst for both match & studio coverage of The Championships, Wimbledon and the US Open, starting in 2026.”

Andy Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, offered his take on the news.

Andy Murray says Andy Roddick’s deal with ESPN is ‘a great deal for tennis’

Murray, replying to ESPN’s post, said: “This is a great deal for tennis. Andy is absolutely brilliant on his podcast.

“Great knowledge of the game, well researched, speaks well, loves tennis, good fun, enjoys a debate, and my god, tennis needs way more of that on its broadcasts.”

Roddick, the last American male winner of a Grand Slam singles title, has become a popular figure in tennis media since retiring from his playing career in 2012.

The American is the host of the ‘Served’ podcast: a platform on which he has interviewed the likes of Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi and Roger Federer.

Roddick is also an individual who has proven that he is not afraid to speak his mind, as demonstrated by his recent comments regarding the Dubai Tennis Championships director’s statement suggesting that Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek should be docked ranking points after withdrawing from the UAE event.

“Simply, I’m always just a massive fan of tennis,” Roddick said, as per ESPN.

“I’m very excited to join the ESPN tennis team and look forward to covering the two biggest tournaments in the world.”

Roddick is no stranger to working for major sports broadcasters, having joined Fox Sports in 2013 as a co-host for ‘FOX SPORTS LIVE.’

Roddick’s time at the broadcaster lasted for two years before he left the network in August 2015.

Nine years later, Roddick began the ‘Served’ podcast, which has since become one of the most recognisable platforms in tennis media.

Roddick’s last exclusive interview was with Roger Federer at the 2025 Cup. The interview has since racked up 160,000 views on YouTube.
