Andy Murray has offered his expert insight into the Monte Carlo Masters final, having watched Jannik Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz earlier today.
It was far from the stellar showing many had hoped for, but in the end, the Italian dealt with the tricky conditions better than his great rival.
And, in beating Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner has now reascended to world number one.
Discussing those conditions, as the wind swirled around Court Reiner III, Murray took to X to provide his thoughts.

As if to emphasise just how much of a factor they were, even Sinner discussed the conditions in his post-match speech straight after the final.
And, even before the match had concluded, Murray had offered his thoughts as well.
How would you rate that Monte Carlo final out of 10?
He wrote: “Both guys struggling playing with the wind so far….you need to play with more patience and much higher margin for error when it’s like this.. the one who recognises this and adjusts quickest will win..”.
Clearly, Sinner adjusted quickest, coming from a break down in both sets to win in straights.
Jannik Sinner retakes world number one from Carlos Alcaraz
As referenced earlier, Sinner is now the world number one once again.
Before the Monte Carlo Masters had even begun, the 24-year-old knew that he’d have to better Alcaraz’s result to overtake him in the rankings race.
After all, having won this event last year, the Spaniard had plenty more points to defend than Sinner, who missed it completely.

Now, the Italian sits on 13,400 points, just 160 ahead of Alcaraz, who now heads to Barcelona, where he lost in the final in 2025.
Madrid represents the next opportunity for a big points swing, given that both Alcaraz and Sinner missed it last year.
