Andrey Rublev has reached his first final in 11 months at the Barcelona Open.

The Russian star has beaten Mariano Navone, Lorenzo Sonego, Tomas Machac, and Hamad Medjedovic to reach the final of the Spanish tournament.

Rublev benefited from Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal from the Barcelona Open, as they were set to play in the quarter-finals of the competition.

After confirming his place in the Barcelona Open final, Rublev has notched up a record at ATP 500 events now which is even better than Roger Federer.

Andrey Rublev’s impressive ATP 500 tally

Rublev’s victory against Medjedovic in the Barcelona Open semi-final was the 113th ATP 500 win of his career.

Who will win the Barcelona Open? 🤔

That tally put him fourth on the all-time leaderboard and he has overtaken Federer’s record while in Barcelona.

ATP 500 Win LeadersVictories
Rafael Nadal121
Alexander Zverev119
David Ferrer116
Andrey Rublev113
Roger Federer111

Federer managed 111 ATP 500 victories in his career, although it is worth noting that he did not play as many lower events as Rublev.

Rublev sits below Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, and David Ferrer, but it’s not unfeasible that he will break the all-time record.

It’s a testament to Rublev’s longevity on the ATP Tour that he’s now named among some of the very best in tennis.

Ahead of his appearance in the Barcelona Open final, Rublev has reached 10 ATP 500 finals during his career.

Should Carlos Alcaraz have skipped the Barcelona Open? Did he make a mistake by playing it?
