Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have dominated tennis in the last few years, with very little sign that any other up-and-coming player has the weapons to topple them.

Sinner and Alcaraz have shared the last nine Grand Slams, with the Spaniard earning his fifth at the Australian Open.

Alcaraz has made huge strides over Sinner in 2026, but both players are still far and away the best ranked players in the world.

In a new interview, Andre Agassi has praised both men, as well as revealing an ‘issue’ he sees in Alcaraz’s game.

Andre Agassi pinpoints Jannik Sinner’s biggest strength

Agassi heaped praise on several aspects of Sinner’s game, despite the world number two’s slow start to the 2026 season.

Speaking to New Balls Please!, Agassi said: “If we start with Sinner he is arguably one of the best ball strikers in the history of the game.

“He moves ridiculously well and is incredibly powerful from corners, you never know when you have him behind in a point.

“You think when you hit a good shot to the corner and he is on the full run you should be able to take over the tennis court, but he can still hurt you.”

What would have happened if Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played at the same time as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal?

Agassi believes Sinner’s aggressiveness barely gives other players on the ATP Tour a chance, which is the biggest reason why he has been able to dominate tennis.

“Then when he is on top of a point he is always playing downhill. He is playing 85% swings to big targets and controlling it, so it feels like there is very little risk.

“It’s like you are swimming in the oceans and he just throws a wet blanket on you, there’s nowhere to go. If he’s on offence there’s nowhere to go and if he’s on defence you still have to worry.”

Agassi is also a huge admirer of Alcaraz’s game, but he did share one caveat when it came to the world number one.

Andre Agassi compares Carlos Alcaraz to ‘the big three’ despite one key issue

Agassi was as equally as exuberant about Alcaraz’s talents on the court, which have seen him reach world number one yet again.

The American called Alcaraz an amalgamation of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal for the way he handles himself on court.

“Then with Alcaraz you have someone who is like the big three in one person. He moves and defends like Novak, he has the hands and touch like Federer and the RPM’s and pace of Nadal all in one person.”

However, Agassi admitted that Alcaraz’s biggest strengths can also be his weakness.

“Sometimes his biggest issue is too many choices on a tennis court but they have definitely separated themselves,” admitted Agassi.

Agassi was in attendance for Sinner and Alcaraz’s legendary Roland Garros final, and he coached a Team World team that took on the Spaniard’s Team Europe at the Laver Cup.
