Amelie Mauresmo responds when asked if she’s confident Carlos Alcaraz will play Roland Garros

Carlos Alcaraz’s wrist injury has now kept him out of the Barcelona Open and the Madrid Open.

The star was forced to withdraw from his match against Tomas Machac in the Barcelona Open after suffering a wrist injury in his opening round match.

Alcaraz has been predicted to miss more tournaments as his 2026 season has unfortunately become derailed.

With just one month to go until Roland Garros, Amelie Mauresmo has reacted to the Spaniard’s latest injury.

Roland Garros organisers react to Carlos Alcaraz’s injury

Mauresmo is the tournament director of Roland Garros and she will surely be keen to have Alcaraz attempt to defend his title from last year.

Despite the star’s wrist injury, Mauresmo is confident Alcaraz will be fit and ready to play the second Grand Slam of the year.

Should Carlos Alcaraz hire another coach after his recent results?

If so, who should he hire? 🤔

Speaking at a Roland Garros press conference, Mauresmo said: “He’s had a pretty good season so far. There have been a little bit of injuries, but there are still a few weeks to go before the tournament.

“I’m pretty sure he’s going to do everything he can to really be 100% when he comes here to Roland Garros.”

History is on Alcaraz’s side as he hopes to reach full fitness just in time for the iconic Paris tournament.

Alcaraz injured himself in the 2025 Barcelona Open final against Holger Rune, which forced him out of the Madrid Open.

The Spaniard responded well, however, and still played – and won – the Italian Open and Roland Garros to cap off a very strong clay court swing.

Carlos Alcaraz loses ground on Jannik Sinner again

Alcaraz lost his world number one status by losing to Jannik Sinner in the Monte-Carlo Masters and he’s now missed the chance to take back his place at the top of the ATP Tour.

If Alcaraz won the Barcelona Open, he would have replaced Sinner at the top of the ATP Tour by just a few points.

Should Carlos Alcaraz have skipped the Barcelona Open? Did he make a mistake by playing it?

After his early withdrawal, Alcaraz has now lost ground on his Italian rival.

Alcaraz reached the final of the Barcelona Open last year, so his second round exit sees him lose 280 ranking points.

That means he currently sits 390 points away from Sinner in the rankings.

Should Sinner decide to play the Madrid Open, he will have a real opportunity to extend his lead at the top.
