Amanda Anisimova surprised many when she announced her split with Hendrik Vleeshouwers at the end of March.

The Dutch coach was instrumental in Anisimova’s rise back up the rankings following her mental-health break.

Anisimova was one of the standout players on the WTA Tour in 2025 by reaching back-to-back Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open.

While Anisimova is yet to hire a new coach, Vleeshouwrs has confirmed a new role with a WTA Tour top 50 player.

According to L’Equipe, Vleeshouwers has begun working with world number 46 Lois Boisson ahead of her return to tennis at the Madrid Open.

Boisson was one of the breakout stars of last year’s clay court swing, but she has not played very much tennis since.

The Frenchwoman reached the semi-finals of her home Grand Slam at Roland Garros, but her last appearance on the WTA Tour was in September at the China Open.

She has dropped several places in the rankings in her absence, but she still remains in the top 50 of the rankings.

The star has had several false returns so far this year, and the Madrid Open is her next hope of playing competitive tennis again.

Hopefully under new coach Vleeshouwers, we will see the Frenchwoman back on her favourite surface in Spain.

What Amanda Anisimova said about her coach that could work wonders with Lois Boisson

Vlesshouwers work with Anisimova was just as much mental as it was physical and he helped her return once again as an elite player.

While Boisson’s issues seem physical, the patience and empathy the Dutchman showed Anisimova could be beneficial for Anisimova.

During her departing message to her former coach, Anisimova said: “Thank you Rick, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. For seeing and treating me as a human first, before an athlete.

“That meant the world to me, and made for a great partnership. Your dedication, loyalty, and passion is undeniable!

“I wish you nothing but happiness and success in whatever comes next for you in this chapter!”

It remains to be seen whether the talented coach can also turn around the career of the Roland Garros semi-finalist.
