Amanda Anisimova’s start to the 2026 grass-court swing has not gone according to plan.
The American star began her grass-court campaign at the Queen’s Club Championships, where she was knocked out in the quarter-finals [her second match] by 18-year-old compatriot Iva Jovic.
This result was the latest in a series of disappointing outcomes for Anisimova, who has recorded just one victory against a top 10 player this year.
Will Amanda Anisimova win a Grand Slam title in 2026?
Anisimova’s loss at Queen’s has seen her surrender 217 WTA ranking points, and she will now fall one place in the WTA rankings to world number six.
The 24-year-old is now in a very tricky spot, especially after withdrawing from the Berlin Open.
Amanda Anisimova’s ranking could suffer during the grass-court swing
Anisimova reached the quarter-finals of last year’s Berlin Open, beating Bianca Andreescu and Magdalena Frech en route.
Following her withdrawal from the 2026 event, Anisimova will lose a further 108 ranking points.

Anisimova is set to lose almost all of her WTA grass-court ranking points prior to Wimbledon; and this is a major concern.
Anisimova reached the final of last year’s Wimbledon Championships before losing to Iga Swiatek in the championship showpiece.
As a result, she earned 1,300 WTA ranking points.
Anisimova must defend the majority of her ranking points at this year’s event. Otherwise, she risks suffering a significant fall down the WTA rankings.
It has been a tough year for the world number five; she has struggled to locate her best form and is currently 18th in the live race for the WTA Finals.
With the American in poor form and her recent grass-court performances shaky at best, the next month has quickly developed into an extremely crucial period in her season.
Amanda Anisimova’s 2025 grass-court swing
- Queen’s Club Championships – lost in the final to Tatjana Maria [325 points]
- Berlin Open – lost in the quarter-finals to Liudmila Samsonova [108 points]
- Wimbledon – lost in the final to Iga Swiatek [1,300 points]
Amanda Anisimova’s next WTA event
Remarkably, Amanda Anisimova is not currently scheduled to compete in another warm-up event ahead of Wimbledon.
The American has not entered into the Bad Homburg Open, Eastbourne Open, or Nottingham Open ahead of the third Grand Slam of the calendar year.
Anisimova, as mentioned already, is defending 1,300 ranking points at Wimbledon this year.
Last year, the American was the feel-good story of the tournament, beating Linda Noskova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Aryna Sabalenka on her way to the final.
Unfortunately for Anisimova, the feel-good factor quickly evaporated in the final, as she was beaten 6-0, 6-0 by Iga Swiatek.

“From my side, I think I was a bit frozen there with my nerves,” said Anisimova after the contest.
“There’s a lot of room for improvement. If anything, I think it’s more experience for me on how to handle nerves.
“It’s my first Slam final, so at least I have that experience now.”
