Amanda Anisimova won her second WTA 1000 title on Sunday after defeating Linda Noskova in the China Open final.

The American has yet again demonstrated immense resilience, bouncing back from a brutal US Open final loss to win her very next tournament.

Anisimova started the contest in red-hot form, ‘bageling’ her opponent in the first set. However, the 20-year-old Czech star roared back to take the second set.

In the decider, Anisimova wrestled back control of the contest, winning the tie 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.

This was a momentous victory for the 24-year-old, one that will delight American tennis fans.

Amanda Anisimova’s first WTA 1000 title came at the Qatar Open earlier this year, where she defeated Paula Badosa, Leylah Fernandez and Jelena Ostapenko en route to the title.

Nearly eight months later, Anisimova has won her second WTA 1000 title, again outside of the North American borders.

As per OptaAce, Amanda Anisimova has become the first American to win her first two Tier 1/WTA-1000 titles outside of North America, since the tier format’s introduction in 1990.

Following her victory in China, Anisimova will gain 880 ranking points, putting her on 5,989 points in total.

The American will remain as the world number four, 1,274 points behind compatriot Coco Gauff in the third spot.

Speaking of Gauff, Amanda Anisimova will join her compatriot at another tournament due to take place in November: Anisimova qualified for the WTA Finals on Friday.

The statistical breakdown

As per Sofascore, Anisimova made 76 per cent of her first serves, winning 68 per cent of those points. Meanwhile, Noskova made 67 per cent of her first serves, 62 per cent of the time.
