The Miami Open is one of the most celebrated tournaments in the tennis calendar, completing the revered Sunshine Double with Indian Wells.
However, despite it being a favourite for fans and players alike, this year, it will be without plenty of its star names.
Here’s a round-up of all the players who have confirmed their absence from this esteemed Masters 1000 event.
All top ATP players who have withdrawn from the Miami Open
On the men’s side, a few absences were not particularly surprising.
Holger Rune continues his recovery from an Achilles injury suffered last year, and has not played since October. His absence is hardly surprising.
Is Aryna Sabalenka vs Elena Rybakina the best rivalry in women’s tennis right now?
If not, who is?
Similarly, after withdrawing before even playing in the final in Dubai, Tallon Griekspoor continues his comeback trail too, and will not be fit for Miami.
Other notable absentees include the in-form Jaume Munar, Lorenzo Sonego and Jerry Shang.
However, perhaps the biggest casualty from the men’s draw came when Novak Djokovic withdrew from the Miami Open just last week.

Whilst Novak Djokovic has left a huge dent in the ATP side of the event, the women’s draw has suffered across the board, with notable big names, Grand Slam champions and dangerous lesser-ranked threats all casualties.
Lois Boisson remains the highest-ranked player to have pulled out on the WTA Tour, although she has not played since September due to injury.
Meanwhile, two major champions in Marketa Vondrousova and Barbora Krejcikova, who have long been plagued with fitness problems, are also out.
Stars such as Karolina Pliskova, Daria Kasatkina and Veronika Kudermetova make up the rest of the injury list.
Why did Novak Djokovic withdraw from the Miami Open?
Djokovic’s withdrawal from the Miami Open seemingly came out of nowhere, but still didn’t surprise many.
After all, with his massively reduced schedule, it is to be expected that he will miss some of the biggest tournaments on the calendar.
However, what is perhaps worrying is the reason behind his scheduled absence, citing a new injury concern.
Novak Djokovic is the tennis GOAT… Prove us wrong
He seemed fine during his gruelling three-set epic against Jack Draper, which saw him exit Indian Wells. Clearly, he has suffered in the aftermath.
The tournament referenced a ‘right shoulder injury’ as the explanation for Djokovic’s withdrawal.
