Alexandra Eala is set to play a former Wimbledon quarter-finalist at the Jingshan Open after yet another impressive win.
The 20-year-old defeated Japan’s Mei Yamaguchi in straight sets to secure a place in the semi-finals in China.
Eala opted for Jingshan rather than the China Open as she continues to build her ranking points on the WTA Tour.
The World No. 58 will play a star who went on an extraordinary run at the 2024 Wimbledon in the Jingshan Open semi-finals.

Alexandra Eala will play Lulu Sun at Jingshan Open
Eala’s run will see her come against Lulu Sun, who has reached a career high ranking of World No. 39 in 2024.
The current World No. 146 defeated Elena Pridankina to earn a place in the semi-finals and set up a second-time clash with Eala.
Sun is best known for her excellent run at Wimbledon in 2024, which saw her reach the quarter-finals at SW19.
The New Zealand star defeated Emma Raducanu and Qinwen Zheng before falling to Donna Vekic in the last eight.
Sun’s qualification for her best-ever tournament saw her meet Eala for the first and only time, which saw a straight sets victory for the New Zealand player.
Alexandra Eala has been tipped for tennis greatness
Alexandra Eala is widely considered one of the most hotly-tipped tennis stars on the entire WTA Tour, and she’s been heavily praised by many pundits.
Mats Wilander compared her to Marcelo Rios after her remarkable run to the Miami Open semi-finals in March.
“With Alexandra Eala, we’re talking about someone who has hands given by God,” Wilander told TNT Sports back in April 2025.
“She understands the game as good as any player on tour. She reminds me of Marcelo Rios, where the talent is just boiling out of the fingers and boiling out of her hand, and she can do anything.”
Eala saw her Miami tournament ended by Jessica Pegula, who lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
