Alexandra Eala has jumped headfirst into the European clay court swing, with appearances in Linz and Stuttgart already.

Eala will next head to the Madrid Open after picking up one victory and two defeats in her first two tournaments.

The Filipina star has been beaten by Jelena Ostapenko and Leylah Fernandez, so she should not be too disheartened so far.

Eala has now added another clay court event to her schedule at a lesser-known tournament on the WTA Tour calendar.

Alexandra Eala’s clay court schedule grows

Eala has signed up for the Emilia-Romagna Open, which runs in Parma, Italy, between May 11th and May 16th.

The 20-year-old will be the fourth seed at the Italian tournament, behind only Xinyu Wang, Ann Li, and Lois Boisson.

Will Alex Eala ever win a Grand Slam title?

The tournament takes place on the second week of the Italian Open in Rome, so Eala could miss the Masters event.

Alternatively, she could play both with an early exit or withdraw from the Parma event with a longer run in Rome.

Eala lost in the opening round of the Italian Open last year, to Marta Kostyuk, before playing doubles with Coco Gauff.

Alexandra Eala’s record at her last three WTA 125 events

Eala would normally be made one of the favourites when she moves down a rung to play WTA 125 events, but that hasn’t been the case recently.

The Filipina star has only reached one semi-final in her last three WTA 125 appearances, which came in Jingshan last September.

Since, Eala has been knocked out in the quarter-finals of Suzhou and her home tournament at the Philippine Women’s Open.

The star will be hoping for better as she competes as the fourth best ranked player at the Parma Ladies Open.

Eala has one WTA 125 tournament victory under her belt already, after lifting the Guadalajara 125 Open in September 2025.
