Alexandra Eala has revealed what her last two tournaments have been like after deciding to miss the China Open.

Eala played the Suzhou Open, as well as the Jingshan Open, two WTA 125 events, in favour of the 1000 event in Beijing.

The Filipino talent will return to WTA 1000 events for the first time since losing to Marketa Vondrousova in the first round of the National Bank Open.

The 20-year-old has opened up about her experiences of playing the two smaller tournaments in China.

Alexandra Eala reveals experiences of Jingshan and Suzhou

Eala was a top seed in both tournaments in Jingshan and Suzhou, but she did not lift the trophy at either competition.

The star lost to Lulu Sun in the Jinshan semi-final, while she was knocked out in the quarter-finals in Suzhou at the hands of Viktorija Golubic.

“Some crazy matches this week,” wrote the 20-year-old on Instagram after WTA 125 events in Jingshan and Suzhou.

“Back to the drawing board with a bit more experience and a lot of sweat lost,” the star told her 719,000 followers.

Eala’s Wuhan Open qualifiers campaign begins on October 4, where she will play Moyuka Uchijima, who has reached a career-high ranking of World No. 47.

Alexandra Eala will be looking to break a six-month streak at the Wuhan Open

Eala has played several WTA 1000 events in 2025, with varying degrees of success in the star’s breakout year.

The 20-year-old impressed at the Miami Open in March, as she knocked out Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek on her way to the semi-finals.

Her tournament was ended by Jessica Pegula, and she has won just one WTA 1000 match since her breakout competition.

Eala’s victory over Viktoriya Tomova at the Madrid Open in April was the last time she tasted success in a WTA 1000 event.

The Filipino will be hoping for a change of fortune if she manages to qualify for the final WTA 1000 event of the year.
