Alexander Zverev’s ATP Finals campaign was ended at the hands of Felix Auger-Aliassime in Turin.

The two men competed in a winner-takes-all final group stage match, which Auger-Aliassime won in straight sets.

The loss caps off an extremely disappointing season for Zverev, which saw him win just one ATP title and moved further away from Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the rankings.

As Zverev’s ATP season comes to a conclusion, Tim Henman has told the German what he needs to do differently in 2026.

Tim Henman details the change Alexander Zverev must make

Henman has been critical of Zverev at the ATP Finals, and now he’s detailed a plan of action for the star after his loss to Auger-Aliassime.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Tim Henman said: “Yeah, I think it’s twofold and I think they are related. I think there’s quite a lot of scar tissue for Zverev in terms of the way that he’s playing and that’s what he has to start in the off season.

“To build the correct habits of playing up the court, playing on his terms, looking to be aggressive, and then if he can do that, then he can build the momentum of playing the right way because he’s a very, very good player, don’t get me wrong, he’s three in the world, but I don’t feel like his game is trending in the right direction.”

Henman suggested a tactical change from Zverev, who is over 5000 ranking points away from Sinner at world number two.

“I think he’s got to make some conscious decisions to change his strategies to then, you know, have more impact in the outcome of these matches.”

The German still has the perfect opportunity to end his season on a high, despite his exit from the ATP Finals.

Zverev will next be in action at the Davis Cup Finals, where he will be representing Germany in the latter stages of the tournament for the first time.

Alexander Zverev’s disappointing 2025 season

Zverev’s season started in promising fashion as he reached the Australian Open final for the first time in his career.

He was swept aside by Sinner in the final and that would spark a downturn in form throughout the rest of the year.

The star has ended 2025 with a 55–25 win-loss record, which is far worse than he managed in his previous season.

The German won 69 matches and lost 21 in 2024, so he’s suffered more losses and tasted fewer victories in 2025.

There were highlights for the German, however, as he won his 24th ATP title at the Bavarian Open and picked up his 500th career victory at the Canadian Open, but there were plenty more disappointments that positives for Zverev.

The star was knocked out of Wimbledon in the first round, marking the first time he had been knocked out of that stage of a Grand Slam for six years.

He also suffered early exits at Indian Wells, Acapulco, and Monte Carlo throughout his disappointing season.
