Alexander Zverev was unable to capture the Wimbledon title after losing in the final to Jannik Sinner.
Zverev had never surpassed the fourth round of Wimbledon before, but after beating the likes of Taylor Fritz and Arthur Fery he made it all the way to the final.
The German had lost nine consecutive matches against Sinner, but Zverev made a positive start in the Wimbledon final after winning the first set.
Zverev was ultimately beaten by Sinner 6(7)-7, 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 and after the match he spoke about how the crowd treated him during his fortnight at Wimbledon.

Everything Alexander Zverev said after losing to Jannik Sinner
Zverev started his post-match speech by paying tribute to Sinner, who he claimed proved why he is the world number one.
“First of all, Jannik I don’t really like you anymore,” said Zverev. “I have lost to you nine times in a row! No, congrats to Jannik. He has shown again why he is the best player in the world. It was great to share Centre Court with you on finals weekend. It is a great honour to be here. Unfortunately it did not go my way, but congratulations first of all.
“Also to Jannik’s team who have been with him for many years now. You guys are world number one now, you started outside the top 10 and have worked your way there. It is definitely a team effort, I think Jannik is the first one to admit it. So congratulations to you guys as well, you really deserve it.”

Zverev then drew attention to his own team, as he pointed out the success they have had recently after winning his first Grand Slam at Roland Garros last month.
“Then to my team. We had a pretty good two months I would say even though we lost this final,” added Zverev. “We had an amazing two months.
“We came into Wimbledon having never reached the quarter-finals and we played our first Wimbledon final. 29 years old, this is the first time that I actually believe I can win this trophy, so thanks to you guys as well.”
Zverev then spoke about the crowd, who he claimed helped him make it all the way to the final at Wimbledon this year.
“I would like to thank the crowd for these two amazing weeks,” continued Zverev. “Every time I played the court was full and I never felt support like that at Wimbledon before. You guys are a big part of why I made it to the final today.”

Zverev then made a comment about the Royal Box and the presence of The Princess of Wales, Catherine Middleton.
“One more thing it’s very special to play on this Centre Court and it’s because of this Royal Box as well” said Zverev.
“The amount of special players I see for every match and especially for the final, it’s a great honour to play in front of you, Your Highness and everybody else as well.
“It’s the most unique court in the entire world and the Royal Box is a special thing. It’s a massive honour to play on this court, it’s as simple as that.”

What will Alexander Zverev’s ranking be after Wimbledon?
Although Zverev has not won the title at Wimbledon this year, he is confirmed to make a jump in the ATP rankings.
Carlos Alcaraz has missed both Wimbledon and Roland Garros due to his wrist injury, and Zverev has now been able to take advantage of the Spaniard’s absence.
Zverev will now leapfrog Alcaraz as the new world number two, which equals his previous career-high.
The Roland Garros champion has also confirmed his qualification for the ATP Finals, which Zverev will play for a ninth time this year.
Zverev is still some way from achieving his goal of becoming world number one however, as he trails Sinner by a significant 4,970 points.
