The German has won just two tournaments in the previous two seasons, although he did reach the Australian Open final at the beginning of the year.

Zverev’s inability to win a Grand Slam while inside the top 10 of the rankings has earned him an unwanted tennis record.

Speaking after his shock first round exit at Wimbledon in 2025, Zverev said he is still driven by winning a Grand Slam.

Asked if he was motivated, he responded: “To win a major, yes. I don’t know how to answer this, to be honest, because it’s a feeling that you’re going to bed and you’re just not really motivated for the next day, you don’t really feel like waking up and going to work.”

Zverev has suffered an early exit in his last two Grand Slam appearances. He lost in the first round of Wimbledon to Arthur Rinderknech and followed it up with a third round exit at the hands of Felix Auger-Aliassime at the US Open.
