Alexander Zverev is seeking to win back-to-back Grand Slam titles.

The German star finally lifted the weight of the world off his shoulders last month when he captured his first major title in Paris.

Zverev has now qualified for his first Wimbledon final after defeating British wildcard Arthur Fery.

Who will win the Wimbledon final? Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev

The top two seeds collide!

In the final, Zverev will compete against Jannik Sinner – a player the German has lost to in nine consecutive matches.

Patrick Mouratoglou believes Zverev has a ‘huge advantage’ over Sinner in the Wimbledon final, despite their recent history on the ATP Tour.

Patrick Mouratoglou says Alexander Zverev will play the Wimbledon final ‘without pressure’

“Jannik Sinner said yesterday in a press conference that he was so glad to be once again in a Grand Slam final,” Mouratoglou, the former coach of Serena Williams, said in an Instagram post.

“It says everything about the fact that he cannot afford not to win this one.

“When it comes to the mental side I think Jannik Sinner is under a lot of pressure. He hasn’t won a Grand Slam this year, even though Carlos Alcaraz is out. It’s an incredible chance for him.

“In his mind, he should have won Roland Garros, and he should win Wimbledon and maybe also the US Open.

“Then, in his race with Carlos Alcaraz, he’s going to come back – which is something that is so important for him. So the pressure will be huge on his side.

“He knows it’s an incredible moment for him and he cannot afford to miss that moment.”

Mouratoglou, who recently joined Stefanos Tsitsipas’ coaching team, went on to discuss Alexander Zverev’s potential mindset heading into the Wimbledon final.

“On the other hand, you have a player who has nothing to lose,” Mouratoglou said of the German.

“He felt the pressure because he wanted to win his first Grand Slam so badly. Now he has it.

“And in Wimbledon again, he didn’t expect much.

“So he’s going to play his chance without pressure, which is a huge advantage when it comes to a final of a Grand Slam.”

Zverev is seeking to become only the third German man to win the Wimbledon Men’s Singles title.

German icon Boris Becker was the first to do so, winning titles in 1985, 1986 and 1989.

Michael Stich became the second German man to triumph at the All England Club when he defeated Becker in the 1991 final.

Sinner became the first Italian man to win the Wimbledon Men’s Singles event when he triumphed against Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 final.

Sinner, a winner of four major titles, defeated Alcaraz 4–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4.

The first German Wimbledon champion

Cilly Aussem became the first German champion in a Wimbledon singles event when she captured the title in 1931.

Aussem, born in Cologne, defeated compatriot Hilde Krahwinkel 6-2, 7-5 in the final.

Since then, two more German champions have emerged in the women’s singles event.

Steffi Graf, widely considered to be one of the greatest players in tennis history, won seven Wimbledon titles between 1988 and 1996.

Angelique Kerber became the third female champion when she defeated Serena Williams in the 2018 final.
