Alexandra Eala is back at the Miami Open, and has once again been the talk of the town.
After all, wherever she goes, the Filipina superstar is followed staunchly by fans from all over the world.
Not only is she enjoyed by supporters, but broadcasters are swiftly starting to become aware of the star power this 20-year-old possesses.
That is likely why Danielle Collins has come out on Tennis Channel to laud Alexandra Eala, whilst also offering her some advice that could take her to the next level.
Alex Eala told she has a ‘world class’ area of her game
Speaking ahead of her opening-round match at the Miami Open earlier today, the American, who actually won this event in 2024, began with praise: “She has some craftiness up her sleeve as well. She has just someone that I’m obviously very impressed with.”
However, asked where she might need to improve, Collins added: “The second serve definitely can sit up at times. It’s a little bit slower pace, so it gives people an opportunity to step in against her, and then it’s a bit of a tug of war battle and so if she could get some more pop on her serve.

“Her ability to absorb is world-class.”
Her fellow pundit on the panel was curious to know how she might achieve such improvements, and she concluded by noting: “I think it’s a little bit more difficult [than just jumping into it a little more]
“I think for a lot of players it either comes naturally or it doesn’t. And when it doesn’t, it becomes a little bit more challenging because you really have to get dialled into getting the technique down, really focusing on trying to build the physical strengths with your legs, with your shoulder, to be able to produce that type of power.”
Eala has been training in the rain in Miami this week where others stars opted against. It’s fair to say that, after her win earlier today, this has clearly proved fruitful.
Alex Eala’s perfect start to the 2026 Miami Open
Eala came from a set down earlier today to earn a triumphant win over wily veteran Laura Siegemund.
It was a gritty, tough match for the youngster, who battled not only through a tough opponent, but against her own frustration with the German’s antics.
Eala even complained to the umpire about Siegemund’s conduct, delaying the play as she wound down the serve clock at every opportunity.
