Alex Eala to enter Roland Garros doubles with exciting partner

Alexandra Eala has competed in a variety of doubles events this year on the WTA Tour.

The youngster, 20, first competed alongside Iva Jovic in Auckland, reaching the semi-finals of the ASB Classic.

Since then, Eala has competed in doubles events in Melbourne, Abu Dhabi, Indian Wells, Madrid and Rome.

Most recently, Eala and Hailey Baptiste were defeated in the Italian Open first round by Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova.

On Wednesday, Eala’s participation in the Roland Garros Women’s Doubles event was confirmed.

Eala, the world number 42 in singles, is set to play Roland Garros doubles with another of the WTA Tour’s most exciting young talents.

Eala has entered the Roland Garros Women’s Doubles draw alongside world number nine, Victoria Mboko.

Mboko burst onto the tennis scene at the 2025 Canadian Open, defeating four Grand Slam champions on her way to claiming her first WTA 1000 title at the age of 19.

The Canadian’s talents have been recognised by her WTA peers, with Aryna Sabalenka going as far as to say that Mboko is a future Grand Slam champion.

Eala and Mboko will compete for the Roland Garros Women’s Doubles title alongside a plethora of high-profile doubles partnerships.

Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend are the standout entries. Siniakova is an 11-time major champion in doubles, winning two of those titles alongside Townsend.

Italian pair Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani are also set to compete in the event. The duo are the defending champions in Paris.

As for Eala and Mboko, they are projected to be the 12th highest-ranked doubles pairing in the 2026 event.

Victoria Mboko’s kind words for Alex Eala

At the 2025 Hong Kong Open, Victoria Mboko produced a stunning comeback effort to defeat Alex Eala in their round of 16 contest.

Mboko won the last five games of the match, securing a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Following the contest, Mboko discussed her relationship with the Filipina.

“She’s [Eala] such a sweet girl,” Mboko told reporters in Hong Kong. “She’s so nice, and we had so many great memories together off the court.” 

“I mean, we’ll go and get like a bubble tea together, or we’ll go and do the most wholesome things together. She’s such a sweet girl, and it’s never fun to play your friend.

“At the end of the day in the match on the court, we want to win. I can’t really remember what I told her at the net, but I was like ‘That was such an incredible match’.”
