Alexandra Eala broke new ground at Wimbledon this year.
The Filipina star, 21, became only the third Filipino in history to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam singles event, joining Raymundo Deyro and Felicisimo Ampon.
Moreover, Eala is the first female player from the Philippines to advance past the first round of a Slam.
How high do you think Alexandra Eala’s ceiling is?
It was a historic campaign for Eala; yet one can be sure that the youngster will not rest on here laurels heading into the latter half of the 2026 WTA campaign.
Alexandra Eala should now focus on winning her first WTA Tour-level title
Eala has won two WTA titles in her career so far.
She won her first at the 2025 Guadalajara 125k, beating Colombia’s Emiliana Arango in last September’s final.
Eala picked up her second title eight months later after defeating Nikola Bartunkova in the Birmingham Open final.

These two events fall under the umbrella of the WTA infrastructure. However, they are not WTA Tour level events – tournaments that offer 250, 500, 1000, or 2000 points to the champions.
The closest Eala has come to winning one of these titles was at the 2025 Nottingham Open, where she reached the final.
The Filipina failed to convert four match-point opportunities before losing to Maya Joint in a third-set tiebreak.
Eala somewhat avenged her loss to Joint when she defeated the Australian at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

The 21-year-old’s first opportunity to win a WTA Tour-level title will arrive when she competes at the Washington Open.
Who else is competing in Washington?
The 2026 Washington Open is scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 2.
The tournament is set to feature some of the biggest names in tennis, such as Naomi Osaka, Elina Svitolina and Jasmine Paolini.
Madison Keys, Marta Kostyuk, Iva Jovic, and Leylah Fernandez are also set to compete in the event.
Fernandez is the defending champion in Washington D.C. The Canadian enjoyed a stellar run at last year’s event, defeating Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina en route to the title.

Fernandez clinched the 2025 title by defeating Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-2 in the final.
