Alex de Minaur has advanced to the Shanghai Masters round of 16 after defeating Kamil Majchrzak on Monday.
De Minaur has been one of the most consistent ATP Tour players throughout 2025, picking up a title in Washington and regularly featuring in the latter stages of events.
His strong form continued on Sunday, defeating his Polish opponent 6-1, 7-5.
Fans of the Australian will be hoping de Minaur can take his game to the next level during the latter portion of 2025, after revealing a change he has made to try and compete with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
The Australian already ranks among the greatest players Australia have ever produced, and his latest victory in Shanghai saw him usurp one of his Australian peers.
Alex de Minaur reaches his 24th Masters 1000 round of 16

Alex de Minaur has continued to strengthen his legacy following victory over Kamil Majchrzak in Shanghai.
In fact, only two-time Grand Slam champion Lleyton Hewitt now leads de Minaur in a particular statistical area.
As per OptaAce, Alex de Minaur has made a 24th ATP Masters 1000 round of 16, moving past Pat Rafter – who reached 23 – for the outright second-most of any Australian since the format’s introduction in 1990.
To contextualise the significance of de Minaur’s achievement, Rafter is a two-time US Open champion who also reached the status of world number one.
The Australian won 21 titles in total across singles and doubles, also winning the 1999 Australian Open Men’s Doubles crown.
De Minaur’s next opponent
De Minaur faces the prospect of a tricky contest regardless of who he plays in the Shanghai Masters round of 16.
One player he could face is Portuguese star Nuno Borges; de Minaur and Borges have never met previously on the ATP Tour.
The ‘Demon’ could also play young Chinese star Juncheng Shang, who stunned ninth seed Karen Khachanov in the Shanghai round of 64.

De Minaur has also never contested a match against Shang.
