The third seed dominated her quarter-final against Tamira Paszek, defeating the Austrian 6-2 6-1.

Zheng, who is seeking her first title since August 2006, will face world number nine Vera Zvonareva in the semis.

The top-seeded Russian made short work of Italy’s Karin Knapp in their last-eight clash, clinching a 6-1 6-0 victory in just 56 minutes.

Zheng is not the only local player in the last four as fourth seed Peng Shuai also advanced with a 6-4 6-1 victory over unseeded American Jill Craybas.

The 22-year-old will try to move a step closer to her first career title when she faces unseeded Frenchwoman Camille Pin, who was a 6-3 6-3 winner against Dutch qualifier Arantxa Rus.
