WATCH: Pliskova wins ‘fantastic’ exchange en route to Wimbledon final

Karolina Pliskova has made it all the way to her first Wimbledon final after overcoming a tough opponent in the semi-finals

The Czech defeated second seed Aryna Sabalenka in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to give herself a shot at a Wimbledon title.

Sabalenka displayed her trademark power on-court, while Pliskova responded in kind as the two held serve through most of the first set, each holding off two break point chances.

At 5-5 on the Sabalenka serve, Pliskova went up 0-40 for three break points, but failed to convert on any, gaining and missing a fourth at 40-Ad.

With Pliskova serving at 5-6, Sabalenka set up a set point with this brilliantly thought out play, securing the set on the following point.

Pliskova was able to show her own abilities too, including in this crazy rally to close out her serve in the second set.

The Czech did not lie down, breaking the Belarusian to love at 2-2 before defending her serve for the rest of the set to close it out 6-4.

She kept her foot down by breaking Sabalenka to open the final set, holding her own serve to stay up a break.

Pliskova was able to hold the advantage to the end of the match, setting up a title clash with world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty.

It will be the Czech’s second Grand Slam final appearance, reaching the US Open final back in 2016.
