Social Slice: Thiem troubles, Lopez love and Wimbledon seedings

For today’s Social Slice, Dominic Thiem shares more unfortunate news, Feliciano Lopez makes history, and Wimbledon releases its seedings for the 2021 tournament

Thiem released another update on his condition following an untimely withdrawal from his match in Mallorca.

“The [MRI] results weren’t that clear,” Thiem explained via Twitter. “I have decided to go to Barcelona to check with a specialist.”

The news casts doubt over his participation at Wimbledon, not long after the Austrian withdrew from the Olympics.

In more positive news, Feliciano Lopez claimed victory in Mallorca, joining the exclusive club of ATP players with 500 career wins under their belt.

“Thanks Mallorca for being part of it,” Lopez expressed on his Twitter.

Looking on to Wimbledon, the tournament has made public its seedings for this year’s Championships.

In the men’s singles, Cameron Norrie and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time in their careers, while Stefanos Tsitsipas is the third seed at a Slam for the first time also.

Among the women, newly crowned French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova is seeded in a singles Slam draw for the first time, at 15th.

Finally, Djokovic celebrated his return to the grass with a win in Mallorca, claiming doubles victory alongside Carlos Gomez-Herrera.
