The top seeds from the United States, who won the title in 2006 but lost in the final in 2005 and 2007, beat the ninth seeds 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (7/3) 6-4.

Britain’s Jamie Murray and Liezel Huber of the US will meet ninth seeds Mark Knowles and Anna-Lena Groenefeld in the mixed doubles semi-finals on Friday.

Murray and Huber were given a walkover when their opponents Lukas Dlouhy and Iveta Benesova pulled out on Wednesday while Knowles and Groenefeld, of the Bahamas and Germany respectively, beat defending champions Bob Bryan and Samantha Stosur 0-6 7-5 6-3.

Top seeds Leander Paes and Cara Black cruised through to the last four with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Andre Sa and Ai Sugiyama and they will meet 12th seeds Stephen Huss and Virginia Ruano Pascual.

The Australian-Spanish duo upset fourth seeds Kevin Ullyett and Su-Wei Hsieh in a long three-setter, eventually coming through 6-3 5-7 9-7.
