Dulko dominant in first-round win

Fifth seed Sorana Cirstea was made to fight for her place in the second round by Swedish wildcard Johanna Larsson, ranked 236th in the world, coming from behind to win 4-6 6-2 7-5.

Eighth seed Iveta Benesova also had to come from a set down to defeat Poland’s Urszula Radwanska 3-6 6-2 6-2 and seventh seed Carla Suarez Navarro beat Lenka Wienerova 6-0 7-5.

Russian sixth seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova fought hard for a 3-6 6-3 6-3 win over American Jill Craybas and another Russian, Alla Kudryavtseva, made short work of Italy’s Karin Knapp 6-1 6-1.
